One important consideration is that Japan owns a trillion dollars in t-bills. If they start cashing those in, then the earthquake over there could lead to a financial earthquake over here. The impact of the earthquake is very negative for Japan. Japan is one of the largest creditor nations in the world. Now rather than borrowing, they are going to start asking for some of that money back. This is a complete game changer. The dollar is not rising, despite everything that is going on. This shows you that the dollar is no longer a safe haven. It is too late for a plan. We can’t just keep talking about it, we need action now. There is a very short fuse on this bomb. Government spending doesn’t stimulate the economy. It is a drag on the economy. The key to having a strong economy is to reduce the size of the government and to let the free market provide the real growth. We can’t cut this spending fast enough. They are arguing about the bar tab on the Titanic, when the entire ship of state is coming down.
