You think that would be necessary if the amount they are seeking is well below what my insurance policy covers? I mean, if they were seeking an amount in excess of my policy coverage, I could see doing an independent consultation. Otherwise, it sort of seems like spinning the wheels. I don’t see how my insurance company could really do anything to throw me under the bus that would result in me having to pay anything out of pocket. The only option they would have would be to deny this accident was covered by my policy, but this is a pretty standard traffic incident, with obvious connections to liability coverage. I wasn’t drunk, tired, etc., so there’s really no caveat there that I could imagine.
