You need to combine that with a certain uniformity of standards for financial products and strict enforcement of those standards without respect to persons.

Otherwise you get something like what happened to depositors in many failed and failing Ukrainian banks: the rich, powerful and connected got their money back at the expense of the savings of pensioners and small savers.

Even from the point of view of the bank, this is an entirely rational choice, as in a system where there is no rule of law, you do not want to piss off the rich, powerful or connected.

Mis sold Mortgages @ 12:16 pm #

Secured borrowing on property can lead, it seems, lead to finding you have been mis sold mortgages.

I read earlier this year that a lady who borrowed less than 10k with her home as security lost her job, was told that the payment protection insurance could not payout because of implications to do with her partner (the main bread winner).

The solicitor she contacted found traces of severe professional negligence and ended up making a claim against bother the mortgage broker and lender for wrongfully giving her a self cert mortgage.

This is just one example of why credit is so hard to come by these days… Money hungry people!

Northern Ireland is a country which is part of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This guy was wrong to suggest Great Britain alone isn’t a country or a Kingdom. I have studied it with a fine toothcombe for years to get the answers. Hes right about most the other stuff. He forgot Cornwall :(

I think if you live in the UK and you have a mortgage, you should consider some form of UK mortgage protection like this. As far as I know British insurance offer the best and most affordable policy available today. Unfortunately i was not aware that I didn’t have to go to my mortgage provider to get cover for mortgage payment protection insurance..I think I paid about twice that for my MPPI insurance. Ah well, at least it kept a roof over my head!
