HA! Same thing happened to us! We're down $75000 in equity. It just pisses me off. And, we qualified for the refinance but then they were all, “OH NO YOU DI'INT” because, get this! We would qualify if we had less than $10,000 in teh bank and made late mortgage payments. Apparently they won't let hard-working individuals who pay their bills refinance. Only people who live beyond their means and make plenty of late payments (or are danger of foreclosing or upside down on their mortgage) qualify.

Not. Fair.
